Russian historian Alexander Dyukov spoke about the new G8 on TV channel Belarus 1
Alexander Dyukov, director of the Historical Memory Foundation, historian (Russia):
The world is interdependent economically. It is impossible to throw Belarus or Russia out of the world economy, because they are countries that have their own place in this economy, that fit into it. When they imposed sanctions on our countries, they simply did not think about this. Maybe they were thinking about an economic blitzkrieg, about the rapid deterioration of the economic situation in the country, which would cause turmoil. Maybe they hoped for that. But now we see that it is not happening. The economies of Belarus and Russia stand firm under sanctions pressure, while those who impose sanctions seriously suffer from it. We see that the block discipline, which the European countries demonstrate, destroys their economies. We see that the world is becoming less and less unipolar, no matter how much people in Washington want it to be. And, of course, various combinations of both G8 and G7 will emerge both economically and politically. The world is becoming more and more multipolar and more different. This is actually a wonderful thing.
