The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated about two new explosions of land mines near the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, an additional investigation is underway. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
According to a report on the IAEA website, the agency experts who are at the ZNPP have reported a total of five explosions since the beginning of this week.
"One of them occurred yesterday afternoon near the canal that carries water to the plant for its cooling system, which is necessary for nuclear safety. It caused no damage. The second explosion occurred at 1 p.m. today about 500 meters from Reactor Unit 1. There was no serious damage, but further investigations will be carried out," the report said.
Earlier, IAEA experts reported about three landmine explosions recorded since the beginning of the week.
Director General Raphael Grossi reiterated his deep concern about the repeated explosions of landmines near Europe's largest nuclear power plant. The ZNPP area has also been frequently shelled in the past two months.
