Recent events have shown that peace and tranquility can turn into robbery and violence overnight. For several days, the once peaceful Central Asian republic has been the scene of an intense social conflict that has turned violent. Shocking images of shoplifting, shootings in residential neighborhoods, and the killing of police and civilians went around the world. It is frightening to think that similar events could have taken place in the streets of Belarusian cities.
