Belarusian Victoria Azarenka defeated Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic, 6-2, 6-4, thus advancing to the quarterfinals of the season’s first Grand Slam tournament the Australian Open.
Azarenka is a two-time winner of the competitions in Melbourne and one of the main favourites. Prior to the Australian Open, she won the Brisbane International.
Azarenka’s next rival will be Angelique Kerber, who claimed a victory over Annika Beck, 6-4, 6-0.
