World Muaythai Championships to launch in Minsk today

The World Muaythai Championships, scheduled to launch today in Minsk, will feature 35 Belarusian athletes. 13 of them will be competing in the adult male category and 12 in the 18-23 age group. There are 10 girls involved. In total, the World Muaythai Championships will feature about 700 athletes from more than 60 countries.

The events will be taking place in Minsk’s Palace of Sports from tomorrow till May 12.

The Belarusians aspire to take the first place in the team standings, the main rival being Thailand. By the way, Belarusian athletes have never returned from Muay Thai tournaments without awards, and it was only the Belarusians who had managed to defeat the founders of Thai boxing.
