Coordinating Commission of European Olympic Committees paying official visit to Minsk

By Pavel Kaputsky: Belarus continues preparations for the largest sports forum in its history. On the first day of autumn, Minsk signed a contract for hosting the European Games 2019, and this week the first official visit of the Coordinating Commission of the European Olympic Committees takes place in the capital. The leading sports functionaries of the continent hold consultations and give recommendations to the Belarusian organizers.

About four thousand athletes from 50 countries are expected to take part in the second European Games. Competitions in 10 kinds of sports will affect the selection for the Olympics in Tokyo. Winners in boxing, canoeing, karate, shooting and table tennis will automatically qualify for the Games in Japan in 2020.

A competition for the European Games mascot is opened until 15 November.

Opening of the Dinamo stadium will be held on 21 June, 2018, exactly one year before the start of the second European Games.

Tomorrow at 8:30 the Coordinating Commission of European Olympic Committees will hold a joint meeting with the representatives of the Republican Organizing Committee and the Fund Directorate of the Second European Games 2019 in the Hall of Fame of the NOC.
