By Elena Gorelchik: President of Belarus and National Olympic Committee Alexander Lukashenko has extended his greetings to the participants and guests of the Championships. “The European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Minsk has brought together the best representatives of this graceful sport. Hosting such a large-scale event is another evidence for the authority of the national rhythmic gymnastics school rich in sports star names and victories”, the greeting says.

The participants of the Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships, which is more than 200 athletes from 37 countries, will start competing at Minsk Arena less than in an hour’s time.

About 100 journalists have received accreditation to cover the event; about the same number of volunteers will be involved in championship activities.

The gymnasts will compete for medals in team standings, as well as in individual and group events. At the group tournament, Belarus will be represented by Melitina Stanyuta and Ekaterina Galkina.
