At the Winter Paralympics in PyeongChang, the Belarusian athlete Svetlana Sakhanenko claimed the gold in the 15km Freestyle ski race for athletes with visual impairment.
President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the athlete on her victory and expressed his confidence that Svetlana’s success will become a bright guide for our athletes and an incentive to fight and achieve significant results for the glory of Belarus. "Thank you for the victory! Keep it up!", the message said.
Svetlana noted that the preparation for the Games was very serious, and the basis for the results in PyeongChang was laid during training camps in Raubichi and Poland.
Also today, the Belarusian Yuri Golub won his second silver at the Games. This time he claimed the medal in the 20 km cross-country skiing.
All in all, with its six medals – one gold, three silver medals, and two bronze medals – Belarus is now on the 9th place in the medal standings.
Tomorrow, Belarusian biathletes will compete for three sets of medals.
