By Anna Eismont: After the first match day, both Belarus and Switzerland have scored one victory.
ATP’s No. 390 Yaroslav Shilo sensationally defeated Henri Laaksonen, the first racket of the Swiss team, in just three sets – 4-6, 2-6, 6-7. Belarus’ No. 2 – Dmitry Zhirmont lost to Marco Chiudinelli in four sets – 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
A doubles match will be held on Saturday. Adrian Bodmer and Luca Margaroli will play against the Belarusian duo of Max Mirnyi and Andrey Vasilevsky. For Max Mirnyi, this match will be 55th in his career at the Davis Cup.
The match will be broadcast live by TV Channel Belarus 5 starting at 2 pm.
