Such kind of sports events have not been held since the 60s of last century. One of the reasons why Minsk was chosen to host the match is the opening after the reconstruction of the Dinamo stadium. The sports forum will include racing, all kinds of throwing, jumping in length and height, and also relay races, including mixed, which will be officially presented for the first time at the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokio. Competitions will be held in the format of four athletes in each discipline from the team of Europe and the United States. In total in each national team there are 72 men and 72 women.
Throughout the year, the European Athletics Association together with its Belarusian counterparts worked out a number of technical aspects of the match and received confirmation of the participation of all parties.
In 2019, Belarus will host not only the Europe-USA match, but also the second European Games.
