XV Paralympic Games officially close in Rio de Janeiro

By Elena Gorelchik: Belarusian swimmer Igor Boki has won six gold and one bronze medal at this year’s Paralympic Games, becoming the eleven-time Paralympic champion. The Belarusian President has congratulated the athlete on his outstanding achievements. Gold medals also went to swimmer Vladimir Izotov and wheelchair fencer Andrei Pranevich, javelin thrower Alexander Triput scored a bronze medal.

In total, the Rio Paralympics featured about 4,500 athletes from 170 countries competing for 528 medal sets, Belarus represented by 21 athletes in 5 disciplines. The national team is scheduled to return from Rio on 22 September.

Belarus won a total of 10 medals - 8 gold and 2 bronze ones, advancing to the 19th in the medal standings.
