Igor Boki wins Belarus’ first gold at Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro

Main favourite and five-time London Paralympic champion Igor Boki has won the seventh medal in his Paralympic career in the 100m butterfly. Already in the qualification round Boki broke past his own record and covered the distance in 54.54 seconds. In the final, the Belarusian demonstrated the best result, breaking not just the Paralympic, but also the world and European record – 53.85 seconds.

Tonight also saw another final race featuring a Belarusian athlete - Alexandra Svadkovskaya took the 8th place in the 100m breaststroke.
