Pavel Kaputsky. The main outcome of the Olympics in Pyeongchang for Belarus is the following. Our team has three awards, two of them are of the highest standard. Anna Guskova won gold in the competition of ski acrobats, and the women's four consisting of Nadezhda Skardino, Irina Krivko, Dinara Alimbekova and Daria Domracheva won the relay race. Together with Domracheva’s silver in the mass start we get the 15th place in the overall standings.
The girls showed a steel character and a will to win. And they were awarded Orders for Personal Courage. In tough competition, in difficult weather conditions, the girls coped magnificently. Behind us are world leaders: Germany, France, Norway, Italy and Ukraine.
In general, the South Korean Games have turned out to be one of the most successful in the sovereign history of Belarus. But there is also bitterness from the lost opportunities. Anton Kushnir was misjudged in the struggle for medals.
Because of health problems Sergei Dolidovich did not get to the finish line in the only race, but he became a seven-time participant in the Olympics and thus equaled Ekaterina Karsten.
There were other worthy performances as well. The fifth place in the biathlon mixed relay, the eighth place in the men's relay race, Marina Zueva’s 6th and 7th places in speed skating, the 7th place achieved by Vitaly Mikhailov.
In total, Belarus has three medals in Pyeongchang. Apart from the triumphal games in Sochi, this is our best winter Olympics!
