This week, Minsk welcomed delegates from 20 National Olympic Committees and representatives of the European Olympic Committee. This visit is the first of three visits that were planned in preparation for the second European Games.
Experts evaluated the conditions under which athletes will perform, how athletes will eat, rest, and what kind of transportation they will deliver from one point of Minsk to another.
During the visit, the guests visited sports facilities and the Olympic village. In an exclusive interview for the TV News Agency, Makis Asimakopoulos, the Senior Sports Consultant at European Olympic Committees for the 2019 Minsk European Games, noted that representatives of the NOCs were very impressed with Minsk, the attitude of people, the magnificent sports facilities that already exist here, and the beautiful village for the athletes and the employees who work in the Directorate for the preparation of the Games.
The Second European Games will be held in Minsk on 21—31 June 2019 at 12 sports venues. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will take part in the competition. The programme includes 15 sports. Competitions in 10 disciplines will become qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
