Champions League returns to Belarus

After a year's break the most prestigious football tournament of the continent - Champions League - is back to Belarus!


BATE beat Slovan 3:0. The man, who was yesterday thrown into the air was Alexander Ermakovich. He is the head coach of FC BATE Borisov. In the first year of his independent work he made his way into the most prestigious tournament of the continent, repeating the achievement of Viktor Goncharenko.


BATE comes beyond the group stage of the Champions League for the fourth time, but for the first time we will welcome the best clubs of Europe in Borisov arena.


BATE is the champion of Belarus, which is why it has the right to play in the commercial Champions League tournament. By Tuesday evening the Borisov team has added to its bank account 11,075,000 euros.


In September the group stage starts. Every victory there will cost one million euros, each draw - 500 000 euros. Fees are increasing, but the resistance grows too.


Some of the best clubs in the world will come to Borisov. Real, Barcelona, Bavaria, Chelsea, Benfica, Atletico, Port or Arsenal. The die will be cast on Friday.
