By Kristina Kamysh: Darya Domracheva triumphantly finished the IBU World Cup Biathlon season. At the last stage of the World Cup in Tyumen, the four-time Olympic champion won the sprint, and then yesterday Domracheva also claimed victory in the mass start.
The President of Belarus congratulated Darya Domracheva on her spectacular victory: "Dear Dasha! I congratulate you on your brilliant performance this season, as well as on the gold medal in the last race of the World Cup stage in Tyumen! It was a beautiful victory in a very beautiful race! You demonstrated your best qualities and outstanding talent in your exceptional performance and unlimited willingness for the best result. I wish you good health and successful preparation for the new season!"
At the press conference, Darya noted that this victory became an excellent finish in a difficult season.
This season, Darya Domracheva had 9 podiums and took the third place in the World Cup overall standings with 804 points. The Big Crystal Globe went to Kaisa Mäkäräinen. Darya is only 18 points behind the Finnish biathlete.
Now, Domracheva and her husband with Ole Einar Bjoerndalen will travel to Norway, where their daughter is waiting for them.
