Olympic Games 2018 kick off in PyeongChang in one week

By Andrey Kozlov: One week later, the Olympic Games will kick off in PyeongChang. Belarusian freestyle skiers are still in Japan and ready to set off for South Korea, while Belarusian biathletes went to South Korea a day earlier. Ladies spent some time training in Hochfilzen, while men were training in Antholz. Then they came to Munich and went to Seoul together.

Today, the rest of the team went to South Korea. These are the teams in alpine skiing, speed skating, short track, and cross-country skiing.

The head of the International Olympic Committee - Thomas Bach, arrived in PyeongChang to check the progress of the preparatory work at the Winter Olympics. According to the IOC President, he was really looking forward to this moment. Thomas Bach also noted the readiness of the Olympic village, which opened today.

Athletes, coaches and members of sports delegations, including Belarusians, will live here. The site is divided into two clusters. The first one is in the mountains and it will house 3,500 people, the second one is at the coast and will take 2,700 people.

As the Olympic Games are getting closer, Belteleradiocompany is planning to allot 154 hours of broadcasting from South Korea.

Pavel Bulatsky, the Director of the Directorate of TV Channel Belarus 5: "On Belarus 1, we will have broadcasts of the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as special diaries after "Panorama". Broadcasts of Belarusian athletes will be aired on Belarus 2, while Belarus 5 - the sports channel - will basically become an Olympic channel, and TV viewers of Belteleradiocompany will have an excellent opportunity to follow all the exciting events in South Korea."
