According to Czeslaw Shulga, Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism of Belarus, Belarus is 70 % ready for the Ice Hockey World Championship. Senior officials of the Ministry have visited a range of facilities of the capital and have made their conclusions.
By Vlada Karnitskaya: Andrey Butko is one of the thirty railway workers who learned the English language at special courses this autumn. The young man says that knowledge of languages ??is a very important life skill, but during the Ice Hockey World Championship it is really crucial.
Only in this month several dozen announcers, cashiers and porters overcame the language barrier that could separate them from the guests of the Ice Hockey World Championship. The evaluation of readiness of the bus station to receive a huge number of hockey fans has been carried out today by the board of the major sports establishment of the country.
Starting from the station, in a few hours the officials managed to visit the capital's cafes, one of Minsk hotels and a tourist information center - a route that an ordinary tourist would choose. Afterwards, the results of this unusual inspection were discussed in a more familiar for the traditional board members setting - the Sports and Tourism Ministry
Czeslaw Shulga, Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism of Belarus: We consider the World Championship as an investment in the future development of both domestic and international tourism. What we are doing today will bring its fruits for the years to come.
Today, one of the main tasks set by the Sports and Tourism Ministry is to expand the list of tourist activities during the Championship. With this in view, the most popular and colorful Belarusian events can be held in May.
One of the initiatives voiced in the Sports and Tourism Ministry was to announce 2014 the Year of Hospitality. It is at the Ice Hockey World Championship that the Belarusians will have the opportunity to host the visitors in accordance with the best national traditions.
