Alexander Lukashenko made a visit to a lumber business built by Lithuanian investors. He was accompanied by Lithuanian ambassador Evaldas Ignatavichus. Recently he has signed the 6th decree setting privileged tax conditions for small towns.
The first Belarusian free trade areas were established in 1996 to draw the foreign investment. Today they unite 516 companies. In 2012 their production amounted to 65 billion rubles and 6 trillion rubles of investment was attracted.
Top managers say the Belarus offers unique conditions. The head of the state stressed that foreign companies should give an impetus to the domestic industry and show it an example of working. Such approach was backed by the Minister of Economy Nikolai Snopkov.
Belarus ranks 58th in the list of nations with the best businesses conditions and is one of 10 most progressing countries in this respect. According to the Lithuanian ambassador many similar projects are waiting ahead. For instance, a big lumber holding may be created.
