By Andrey Krivosheev: President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko held a meeting with representatives of Belarus’ business community. The talk focused on the creation of conditions for world IT companies, investments in the future and introduction of new financial instruments. The meeting brought together about 250 people – from craft workers to owners of large companies.

This autumn, the President signed a package of documents on business liberalization – one ordinance and seven decrees all in all. They are expected to give a powerful momentum to the private sector of the economy.

The documents are aimed at eliminating any administrative barriers that hamper the business initiative. They promote the development of entrepreneurship and the digital economy, minimize inspections, and reduce bureaucracy.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that entrepreneurs should actively develop business in small towns and rural areas. Many of those present took an active part in large-scale work to improve the business climate, stimulate business activity and create the breakthrough document on the development of the digital economy.

The ordinance on the development of the digital economy in the country deals not only with IT. It revolutionizes all spheres of our life – from banking on a smartphone to electronic customs checks at the border.

The President also discussed another vital niche for the rural areas – agro-ecotourism. The President insists that bankers and local authorities should support this sector. It's not just about tourism and recreation – it means the revival and development of villages in Belarus, the preservation of the national cuisine, crafts, life and soul of the Belarusian village.

Next year, two more revolutionary initiatives are expected to be set forth – the new tax code and a new decree on licensing. Entrepreneurs themselves will be able to participate in drafting the documents.
