By tradition, the All-Belarusian People's Assembly began with the speech of the President. Alexander Lukashenko's speech was thoughtful and profound.

The President's speech was often interrupted by applause because it touched everyone.

Unity, development and independence were the key messages. During two days the People's Assembly had to analyze what had been done in economics and social policy and where to move forward. How to preserve and augment not only achievements, behind which is the work of millions of Belarusians, but also spiritual values.

These are not just slogans of this year's forum, but the words reflect the spirit of the times and the three pillars shaping the country's future. The past six months have shown how important it is to be united and strong, how important it is to stand up for one's independence together and of course, to make efforts for the development of the land where we live in a special time, and this sixth national forum will definitely be special.

This time we have been preparing for this popular forum for a long time; over the past few months, we have been actively communicating at dialogue platforms. So, the decisions of the National Assembly will not be spontaneous and unexpected.

The presidium, the agenda, and the rules of procedure are the working elements of the meeting. But the key point of this starting day is the speech of the President. Alexander Lukashenko straight away warns that the conversation will be frank and principled.

"We are going through a difficult time," says the President. It's a critical moment that can only be compared to the collapse of the Soviet Union and the hard 90s.

Belarus is on the threshold of new qualitative transformations. And there is a plan of action. The main guideline is people. The formula for success has several components: strong power, flexible economy, and consent in the society.
