1 марта 2022

Right now, an enlarged meeting of the Security Council of Belarus is taking place in the Palace of Independence. The situation in Ukraine is in the focus of attention.

Alexander Lukashenko presented a detailed analysis of the preconditions for the current events, and also drew attention to speculation in the media and the Internet space, stressing that one should assess what is happening only on the basis of hard facts.

Belarus has no plans to participate in special operation in Ukraine

The President stressed: Belarus has no plans to participate in the special operation in Ukraine. And the Russian leadership has never raised the issue of our participation. At the same time, we cover the state border with our own forces to prevent the entry of radicals and weapons into the country. In Belarus, the air defense equipment is on standby to prevent Russian troops from being stabbed in the back.

The situation in Ukraine is the result of reckless policy of the West

In general, the current situation is a direct consequence of the reckless policy of the West. It aims at forcing its own interests to the detriment of the security of others, said the head of the state. He reminded that even before the military actions started, Belarus had offered its assistance to its Ukraine to establish direct contacts with the Russian side. However, this initiative was ignored.

Belarus is doing its best for the conflicting parties to come to an agreement

Even today, Belarus is doing its best to help the conflicting parties to find common ground and stop the bloodshed. Alexander Lukashenko is cautiously optimistic about the results of the Russian-Ukrainian talks at Pripyat, which took place in Belarus on February 28.
