National system for public security monitoring to be established in Belarus

27 марта 2017

By Andrei Krivosheyev: The President has met with law enforcement representatives to discuss a project of a national system for public security monitoring. Isolated surveillance networks are planned to be combined. As a result, law enforcement agencies will be able to get automatic real-time situation analysis and instantly report on what is happening. Such systems operate in many countries and have already proved their effectiveness.

The existing system was established in Belarus in 2010 and enhanced before the Ice Hockey World Championship.

A total of over 3,500 facilities from banks to hotels, schools, hospitals and universities in Minsk alone are equipped with special surveillance systems. In the next 1-2 years, up to 4,000 facilities are planned to be integrated in the surveillance network.
