Tobacco factories are large taxpayers: by the end of this year, the tax revenue of more than one billion rubles is expected. According to Alexander Lukashenko, any changes in the industry should correspond to the interests of the state.
The existing system of state regulation in the tobacco industry is efficient in Belarus. Today, the measures to attract private capital were discussed in the Palace of Independence. An investor is ready to invest about 122 million rubles in the modernization of the Grodno tobacco factory.
The production of tobacco products in Belarus has tripled since the beginning of the 2000s. Exports increased 16 times. Belarusian cigarettes occupy more than 95 percent of the domestic market.
