Alexander Lukashenko continues official visit to Armenia

Presidents Alexander Lukashenko and Serzh Sarksyan held negotiations on the key aspects of cooperation: economy, geopolitics, social and humanitarian sectors. The parties are going to cooperate in reciprocal trade, create joint ventures and exchange experience. Belarus could use the knowledge of Armenian specialists in NPP operation. The Armenian NPP produces 40% of energy consumed in the country. It survived the terrible earthquake of 1988, when the security systems worked well. В Belarus is building its first NPP and is interested in the experience of local specialists. Alexander Lukashenko attended the Armenian NPP in order to find out how this strategic site functions. The administration of the plant is sure that peaceful atom has future. The alternative sources are expensive and the notion of energy security is important. Our country lacks natural resources and depends on hydrocarbon raw of foreign companies. The system of personnel training is also extremely relevant for our country. The Belarusian leader hopes to see Armenia among our partners in this field. The President noted that Belarus has chosen the way of developing high technologies. This is proved by the launch of artificial Earth satellite and the construction of nuclear power plant. The governments of both countries signed an agreement on cooperation in nuclear energy. Then President attended a religious service in St. John Church, which was led by the Supreme Patriarch of the Armenia Apostolic Church. Among the honorable guests there were President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and ex-President Robert Kocharyan and the leader of the party Flourishing Armenia Gagik Tsarukyan. After the service the Presidents of Belarus and Armenia lighted the candles.
