Tobacco industry under state control. Situation in it discussed at Palace of Independence

The production, import and circulation of cigarettes and other tobacco products in Belarus is under the strictest control. A top issue is that unification of tax legislation with Russia can remove tobacco products from the price category familiar to the Belarusians.

The ways the largest investor in the Belarusian market copes with obligations were discussed. The tobacco industry was improved a year ago. Among the pressing issues are the capacity utilization of domestic factories and options for expanding exports.

The Head of the State expressed his personal negative attitude to smoking.
