Alexander Lukashenko picks potatoes on his plot

This year, Belarusian farmers are expecting a good potato harvest. Considering the busy schedule of the President, yesterday was a relatively free day, and Alexander Lukashenko devoted it to domestic matters and picked potatoes on his three-hectare plot, which yields a harvest of about 100 tons. There are three varieties of potatoes grown in the presidential field – Queen Anne, Satina, and Uladar. The harvest was quite good this year. And, of course, part of it has been transferred to social institutions – to a children's home and a family care facility.

Such work on the ground has become a tradition for the President. By a personal example, Alexander Lukashenko illustrates what he said at the national pedagogical council – physical labour is a noble business, and one needs to get a feel for it since early age. Such enthusiasm is, as they say, quite catchy, and together with the President, his family, as well as his colleagues, worked in the field, too. The weather was quite favourable as well.
