Talks in Sochi lasted more than 6 hours - they discussed integration, economy, joint projects and international agenda. The conversation between the leaders of Belarus and Russia turned out to be very rich.
The very fact that the heads of states met face to face at this difficult time already emphasizes the uniqueness of the meeting. In order to discuss the current agenda and to coordinate efforts on many issues, politicians did not care about formalities. There were no regulations and no dress code, and the locations for the talks were even the mountain slopes.
What did the presidents discussed in Sochi? Last year was difficult for the economies. But even against the background of the pandemic, we managed to maintain a good dynamic - we did not freeze bilateral projects, just remember the opening of the nuclear power plant, and we did not lose much in trade, which amounted to $29 billion. Such a compact state as Belarus is Russia's fourth most important trading partner.
The heads of state discussed the integration agenda. About 30 cooperation areas and roadmaps were outlined. The governments of the two countries have worked on them.
The expert community talks about the results of the negotiations in Sochi. Along with the economic and integration agenda, discussions were also held in the context of security. Pressure of foreign partners, sanctions, protest movements and information warfare according to the same scenarios - all these challenges require additional coordination of joint actions within the framework of the Union State.
Another agreement of the heads of state concerns vaccination. Russia has already passed the technology for production of Sputnik V to Belarus. Our country plans to start producing it in March.
