The Investigation Committee of Belarus notes a tendency for the crime rate to decrease by 8% compared to last year.
Head of the department Ivan Noskevich informed the Head of State about this at the meeting today. Alexander Lukashenko was interested in the quality of the investigation, as well as bringing high-profile criminal cases to court, which are traditionally under the personal control of the President.
Ivan Noskevich, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Belarus: "The structure of crime has partly changed, they tend to be committed in the field of information technology. The number of these crimes is growing steadily, and the law enforcers have also reoriented to solving crimes of this kind with the help of the same information technologies."
According to the IC, every 8th crime in the country is committed online. The growth compared to 2019 is almost 1,5 times. 90% of cases extortion and fraud went into the virtual space. The law enforcement system of Belarus has a worthy response to them. Other crimes are also being disclosed. As Ivan Noskevich noted, some citizens, counting on business of law enforcement officers in the post-election period, decided to commit robberies. But they were promptly detained.
