Alexander Lukashenko warmly welcomed the delegation and the governor of Yaroslavl Region of Russia. “The good event we held yesterday (a friendly match between the hockey team of the President of Belarus and the Yaroslavl Lokomotiv veterans) and the upcoming talks will serve as a good incentive to intensify the bilateral cooperation,” the President said.

According to the Belarusian head of state, Belarus and Yaroslavl Region have a long history of mutual relations. Many Belarusians found shelter in Yaroslavl Region during the First World War. Poet Maksim Bogdanovich spent a big part of his life in Yaroslavl where he is still well remembered. A sports center was opened in the Nekrasovskoye village to commemorate the ice hockey players and coaching staff of HC Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Belarusian citizens were also among the victims of that terrible air crash.

Today the parties discussed the future areas of cooperation, including agriculture, construction, supplies of machinery. Belarus offered its participation in infrastructure projects and state programs. The official part of the negotiations was continued directly at the production facility. Yaroslavl governor visited MAZ, where he personally held a test drive.

Alexander Lukashenko supports the development of regional cooperation. Our old partners offer projects in industrial cooperation, agribusiness, new models of passenger and communal equipment.

There are prospects in the construction industry and housing and communal services. In a number of Russian regions, Belarusian houses have already been built. The foundation of commodity circulation is our country's cooperation with the regions of Russia. Today, it was strengthened with new agreements.
