Russia to support Belarus' economy

This was stated by President Alexander Lukashenko at the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of our country. Vladmir Makei reported on the outcome of foreign policy and economic activities of Belarus over the past year. It was possible to achieve a positive balance of foreign trade. Exports to new markets increased by 7%. During the meeting, the President set the tasks for this year: the development of promising new markets, as well as strengthening of cooperation with major trading and strategic partners.

Special attention was paid to the prospects for the normalization of relations with the West, primarily the EU and the US. The foreign minister emphasizes that all parties aim at equitable and respectful dialogue.

Vladimir Makei also spoke about the project of the National program of support and development of exports until 2020 that was introduced by the Foreign Ministry of Belarus for public discussion. In the next five years, our country plans to increase exports by removing barriers in mutual trade within the EAEU, by entering new markets and developing high-tech services in the field of medicine and IT-sector. Among the priorities are the Chinese economic belt Silk Road and ensuring the export of goods to China worth at least 1.5 billion dollars.
