The development of chess sports in Belarus as well as the 45th World Chess Olympics were discussed at the highest level the day before. President Alexander Lukashenko met with the head of the International Chess Federation Arkady Dvorkovich. The forum will be held in August 2022. At the same time, FIDE plans to restructure its work for the development of chess sports. In his turn, Alexander Lukashenko noted the importance of developing various kinds of sports in our country, and also congratulated Arkady Dvorkovich on his recent election to a high position.

The politician told the Belarusian leader about the situation in the east of Ukraine and sensitive moments in the negotiation process: cease-fire and the exchange of hostages.
The “Christmas truce”, which was agreed upon in Minsk at the end of last year, helped significantly to reduce the number of victims. In general, Marchuk noted that we have created comfortable conditions for the work of the Tripartite Contact Group.
