Work of EAEU amid pandemic and European sanctions discussed at Palace of Independence in Minsk

This year has become a serious test of strength for the union. Amid the pandemic, the GDP of the EAEU countries fell by more than 3%. At the same time, the process of forming a common market is ongoing. One of the key issues on the agenda is gas in the union space. There are several ways to resolve it as Mikhail Myasnikovich noted. Following the program for the formation of a common gas market in 2021, a draft international agreement should be developed, which will prescribe the nuances of the formation of the price of fuel and tariffs for pumping.
Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission: "There is an opinion that the gas issue will be much easier and more successful to resolve within the framework of bilateral relations. For example, Belarus and Russia will negotiate directly, and not wait for the creation of a common market. Each way has its advantages and disadvantages. Armenia and Kyrgyzstan unequivocally believe that together with Belarus it will be possible to resolve their issues on tariffs for pumping and gas prices. But it should be borne in mind that the level of integration, cooperation within the framework of bilateral relations also has a very strong position. And sometimes, issues can be resolved on a bilateral basis."
In addition to the formation of common markets, the countries are working to create maps of industrialization and development of the agro-industry, a food security monitoring system, a project in the space sector. The strategic directions of the development of Eurasian integration include plans to reflect the development of the legal framework of the EAEU. It is necessary to adopt 13 international treaties in the next 3-5 years, about 60 normative legal acts, and about 25 changes and amendments.
