The development of the region, the renewal of the medical base and the future of industrial enterprises were the main topics during the working visit of the President of Belarus to the Gomel region.
The President visited the updated children’s hospital. Modernization of the medical institution was held on the instruction of Alexander Lukashenko and lasted 2.5 years. After reconstruction, the area of the clinic tripled. Now, more than half a thousand patients can be accommodated here. The new complex united the entire pediatric service of Gomel. Diseases are diagnosed in children of any age in this hospital. Magnetic resonance and computed tomography are available here as well as the unique for the region examination methods. Annually more than 20 thousand children come here for medical help. Alexander Lukashenko inspected the new departments, talked to the patients of the clinic. The President drew special attention of the leadership of the Ministry of Health and the region on a prudent approach to the issues of staffing of medical facilities.
The Department of the Gomel Medical University is located in the hospital now. Foreigners will be trained here as well: more than 700 people.
There is a department in the hospital for the youngest patients. Here children with extremely low body weight are treated. These are the worst cases. Kids come from the whole region. Infant mortality is at the lowest level in our country. The task is improvement of the quality of life of the younger generation and minimization of the incidence of disability.
Speaking about the quality of life in the Gomel region, other important topics were touched upon that directly affect this quality. This is the work of enterprises that influences jobs, salaries, welfare of the region. Particular attention is paid to the pulp and paper mill in Svetlogorsk and the factory in Dobrush. One of them did not start to work at full strength, the second one has not yet been launched.
The topic of competent management was paid much attention to during the working trip of the President. Without this, there will be no good healthcare, no cost-effective production, no decent living standards for citizens. Competent management should become the golden rule for everyone.
