Stable and competitive economy to be priority in Belarus

22 апреля 2017

Yesterday, the Belarusian President addressed the nation and the National Assembly. The address was concise and specific. The President talked about the country’s development strategy in the nearest future. President Lukashenko gave brief answers to the questions from Belarusian parliamentarians. One of the key points of the address was the economy of the country. In the world trade, the principle of "every man for himself" is becoming stronger, which creates unfavourable competition conditions for export-oriented enterprises. The dependence of our country on foreign markets continues to dictate the conditions. In such circumstances, the country needs to focus on producing high-quality goods.

The President also stressed that stability and security are the key issues in the modern world, as new threats and challenges emerge and add up to the already existing issues. The President emphasized that a new world order emerges not at the negotiation table but in "hot spots", as influential world players are not always ready to seek compromise. The President summed up the situation by saying that the world is drifting to the opposition of new blocs.

The President also addressed a number of domestic issues - ranging from employment to the prices in the country. President Lukashenko also dwelled on fostering business initiatives and optimising the state administration.
