The Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine has a great future, and the practice of holding such events is planned to continue. Before participating in the plenary session of the forum, the Presidents of Belarus and Ukraine talked in a bilateral format.
A large-scale event is taking place in Gomel, which is not a stranger to many Ukrainians. Due to the conflict in the south-east of the neighboring country, many have found refuge in this particular Belarusian regional center. This fact was touched upon by the Heads of State. Before the meeting, Alexander Lukashenko warmly welcomed his colleague.
The conversation focused on the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation through the prism of the potential of direct contacts at the regional level. Alexander Lukashenko noted that the events of the first day of the forum had gone well.
Following the results of the forum, it is expected that a package of documents will be signed and agreements will be reached across the entire spectrum of the Belarusian-Ukrainian interaction. Interregional contacts should make a significant contribution to the achievement of the 8 billion trade turnover between the countries. Petrochemical companies have already signed contracts worth $ 70 million. BelAZ agreed on the supply of 20 heavy-duty dump trucks. It is known that the next forum will be held on the territory of Ukraine.
