Today, Belarus marks Day of Libraries and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the National Library of Belarus. President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the staff of the Library on this anniversary:
"Today, your institution is considered to be the main educational centre of our country. You protect and appreciate the wisdom of the nation, its spiritual wealth and cultural heritage. In the age of IT, the book is still a source of knowledge. It is an unchanging companion of the reader in an exciting journey through the countries, continents, and historical epochs. It is symbolic that the anniversary of the National Library is celebrated together with one more important anniversary – the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing".
