The President supported the appointment of Stanislav Zas to the post of CSTO Secretary General by signing a draft resolution of the Collective Security Council. This became known during the working meeting of Alexander Lukashenko and the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus. Stanislav Zas informed the Belarusian leader about his visits to Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Russia. The heads of these states also supported the Belarusian candidate. Note that this format of the interview was suggested by our leader during the December meeting of the Presidents in St. Petersburg.

In addition, Alexander Lukashenko drew attention to implementation of many agreements that the CSTO participants reached during the November summit in Astana. One of the key tasks of the organization is building a neighborhood belt and strengthening common borders. It is equally important to resolve all disputes and disagreements. After the working meeting, the journalists asked Stanislav Zas about the situation around Armenia. The rest of the participants have disagreements with Yerevan in this matter, but everything can be solved.

The CSTO includes six countries. Secretary General is elected for a term of three years and in accordance with the alphabetical order of the participating States.
