Criminal situation, stabilization of the situation in the country, the activities of the prosecutor's office. This was discussed today at the Palace of Independence.
The first working meeting of the President in the new year was held with the Prosecutor General. Andrei Shved was appointed to this post by the head of state in September. In general, the last 6 months have become difficult for the entire law enforcement system.

The Prosecutor General began his report with an analysis of the crime situation in the country. It is completely under the control of law enforcement officers. They were able to give a serious rebuff to the destructive forces and all those who tried in every possible way to destabilize the situation in Belarus. According to Andrei Shved, more than a thousand crimes were committed.

Andrei Shved, Prosecutor General of Belarus: "A negative trend is the growth of crimes related to cyber fraud. It significantly increased by 2,5 times and amount to 25 000 crimes. Taking advantage of the nervous situation, cyber fraudsters from abroad rushed to deceive our citizens."

Andrei Shved reported to the head of state on measures to restore order in the streets. The steps taken, the well-coordinated work of all government agencies responsible for security made it possible to prevent riots and chaos.

"Today, security and peace are ensured on our streets. The law enforcement units will step up these measures," the Prosecutor General stressed.

It was also reported on the results of the search and prosecution of all participants in the riots. In 2021, the intensity of the search for these persons will only increase. The head of state has set a task so that not a single person who has infringed on public order, raised a hand against law enforcement officers, escaped strict responsibility.

As in any legal state, Belarus observes the principle of inevitability of punishment for crimes committed. By the way, this year the Prosecutor General's Office intends to submit proposals to amend the legislation in terms of strengthening responsibility (including criminal liability) for extremism, as well as the violation of public order. In particular, they classify certain actions as extremism.
