Italian politician Andrea Rigoni already served as PACE Rapporteur on Belarus from 2007 to 2009. In 2014, he was once again appointed to this post. It is during Andrea Rigoni's term that significant progress was made in relations between Minsk and Brussels.
Today, Alexander Lukashenko thanked the diplomat for the constructive stance and desire to make positive contribution to the development of Belarus' relations with European organizations.
Andrea Rigoni’s visit to Minsk will last for several days. Following the visit, the Italian parliamentarian will prepare a draft report on the situation in Belarus to submit to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in April.
