Petr Miklashevich, Chairman of the Constitutional Commission, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Belarus:
The most important task before the Constitutional Commission is to find the best option for redistribution of powers between the President, the government and the parliament while preserving the presidential form of government. Today at the meeting with the President we discussed some aspects of this redistribution," he explained. During this redistribution of power, he said, it is important, on the one hand, to preserve the strong presidential authority, and on the other hand, to increase the activity of the government and the parliament."In general everything is going on as planned," said Petr Miklashevich. It is a large-scale analytical work including appeals of citizens, and there are thousands of them. The Commission is accumulating everything in order to submit its proposals on changes to the Constitution to the President by August 1. Before the referendum, the draft of the new Constitution will be widely discussed by the public at different levels.
And today the head of the state signed a decree extending the term of validity of certificates and other documents for another six months. According to the previous decree, this period was extended until May 10 inclusively.
