This is the task set before the agency by the head of the state. Today, the President met with the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. They discussed a wide range of issues: forest fires, Ministry's provision with the necessary resources, timely response to any emergency calls. This year the ministry has been working in difficult conditions, sometimes performing functions that do not belong to the department. But the rescuers have to react to any threats (it was fixed in laws from now on, reminded Alexander Lukashenko).
The hot summer adds to the trouble. Abnormal temperatures forced the prevention of forest and other fires to be tightened. This year, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has already rescued more than 3 thousand people, including 96 children. The heat adds a lot of other problems, not less dangerous than even the epidemiological difficulties.
Over the past six months rescuers have received more than 600, 000 phone calls. And most of them were consultations and psychological support. As compared to last year, the sad statistics of fires in the country could not be reduced. It also had an impact on the final death toll. As for fires in ecosystems, there is an obvious downward trend. Even on record hot days, the situation in the Belarusian forests remained generally under control.

Meanwhile, Belarusian rescuers come to the aid of their colleagues from other countries. An example is the catastrophic consequences of fires in Turkey, where two of our Mi-8 aircraft have already been sent. Now the Belarusian side is waiting for a request from the Turkish side to provide additional assistance in extinguishing fires.
