17 июля 2017

Qualitative strengthening of the CSTO on the international arena, increasing its effectiveness in diplomatic and military dimensions - President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko outlined such priorities today at the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Minsk. Since October 2016 our country is the Chairman of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. The President listened to the detailed reports of the CSTO Ministers on the "hot" and urgent issues in the sphere of safety.

The role of diplomacy as the last pre-war frontier of reconciliation is fully recognized by Belarus. This is our position on Ukraine and Middle East. The Collective Security Treaty Organization of 6 countries (Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan) withstands regional and global threats. And the first task of diplomats in the opinion of the Belarusian leader is the growth of the Organization's influence in all world formats. It is diplomats who must demonstrate their skills in order not to give the slightest opportunity to resort to forceful resolution of contentious issues. The task of diplomacy is to create prerequisites for convergence of positions of all stakeholders and development of coordinated approaches. Therefore, the priority of Belarus' chairmanship in the CSTO is the qualitative strengthening of the influence of our Organization in the international arena. Practice and effectiveness are the second priority of Belarus. The third level is operational. Both the borders of Tajikistan and are protected from Afghan drug trafficking. The Belarusian contribution to pacification in Ukraine and the upcoming high-level talks in Kiev. The priorities are the same: the consolidation of diplomatic efforts and security through cooperation.

Vladimir Makei, the Belarusian foreign minister: "Following the meeting, we agreed and signed statements on the ongoing campaign in some European countries to dismantle monuments that perpetuate the feat of the Red Army soldiers in the years The second statement of Minsk is devoted to joint measures to ensure information security. "

Yuri Khachaturov, CSTO Secretary General: "The list of topics of joint statements with which the CSTO will act will be brought to the session of the Collective Security Council at the highest level. It is planned in Minsk at the end of the year".
