The upcoming elections in Belarus, the Ukrainian crisis and relations with Russia. President Alexander Lukashenko answered questions of representatives of non-governmental media. The President answered all questions directly and openly. One of them was modernization of the Belarusian economy. According to the President, Belarus intends to conduct it safely, without borrowing any more money. The head of state assures that in a year or two salaries in the country (in dollar terms) will return to pre-crisis levels.
During the meeting the upcoming elections were discussed as well. According to the head of state, presidential campaign in Belarus will be held transparently and honestly. Alexander Lukashenko has always required that the authorities do not create any obstacles to the actions of initiative groups of other presidential candidates. In addition, the President stresses that in any case he is not interested in potential competitors coming out of the race.
Alexander Lukashenko does not intend to hold his election campaign. In the coming months, the head of state has a busy schedule: a series of important visits are planned for this period.
