Mother's Day has been celebrated in Belarus every year for almost two decades. A mother’s mission is unparalleled in terms of importance and responsibility, as stated in a congratulatory message by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
"Mother’s Day leaves no one indifferent. No matter how old we are, it is our mothers we turn to in the first place, it is our mothers who rejoice in our successes more than anyone else, support us in our failures and worry about every step of our lives. Neither time nor distance has power over their tireless parental care. A mother’s mission is unparalleled in terms of importance and responsibility.
Giving birth to a child and bringing it up to be a decent human being is a great purpose. It is the lessons of morality, justice and love for the homeland that children receive from their mothers. Happy is the man guarded by a mother's love and prayer. This is why today each of us must say warm words of gratitude to our dearest mothers", the message reads.
The President thanked Belarusian mothers and grandmothers "for the gift of life, the infinite patience and effort invested in their children and the warmth of heart and home".
