"Having started as a national liberation resistance of the Chinese population to the Japanese invaders, China's heroic struggle for its freedom and independence has become part of the world's confrontation with fascism and militarism," the greeting message reads. "Thanks to boundless courage, fortitude and patriotism, the Chinese people held back the attack of the Japanese aggressor, which allowed the allies to concentrate on other fronts."

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that Belarus and China, selflessly fighting for a peaceful life, had made an invaluable contribution to the common Victory and predetermined a happy and calm future for their descendants. "We honor the feat of the generation of winners who defeated the enemy and raised the country from the ruins. Our states consistently opposed any attempts to rehabilitate fascism, militarism and falsification of history," the Head of State said.

The President drew attention to the fact that Belarus, as one of the countries that suffered most during the Second World War, will continue to make purposeful efforts to perpetuate the joint heroic past and prevent the recurrence of such a tragedy.
