President of Belarus holds negotiations on fostering relations with India

The Head of the Belarusian state is paying an official visit to India.

Alexander Lukashenko is holding negotiations with Prime Minister of this South Asian country Narendra Modi. The sides discuss the development of bilateral cooperation, mainly in the trade-economic, political, scientific-technical and humanitarian spheres.

Today the Head of the Belarusian state also met with Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu. They talked about the dynamics and prospects of relations.

Alexander Lukashenko visited India twice, thus supporting a high-level dialogue. Within the last quarter of a century the commodity turnover between Belarus and India has almost reached half a billion dollars. The main priorities are production cooperation, projects in science, pharmaceutics and investments.

Alexander Lukashenko invited Narendra Modi to visit Belarus in the near future. It was decided to hold a meeting of the intergovernmental commission, which will be a stage in the preparation for the visit of the Prime Minister of India to Belarus.

The Head of the Belarusian State held talks with External Affairs Minister of India Sushma Swaraj. There are no problematic moments in the relations between the two countries. 25 years of diplomacy managed to make a big breakthrough. Nevertheless, it is time to enter a qualitatively new level of cooperation. During the talks, the parties agreed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will play a special role in strengthening bilateral relations.

The series of negotiations was preceded by a solemn ceremony of meeting Alexander Lukashenko. It was held in the presidential palace. Alexander Lukashenko was greeted by his colleague Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Today, Alexander Lukashenko will hold talks with the President of India. The sides will discuss full-scale cooperation and work in the format of the Eurasian integration.
