Belarusian President continues official visit to Egypt

The Belarusian President continues his official visit to Egypt. Today, Alexander Lukashenko has met with Prime Minister of Egypt Sherif Ismail.

Cairo is currently hosting the opening of a Belarus-Egypt business forum attended by the Presidents of the two countries.

Yesterday’s talks between Presidents Alexander Lukashenko and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi lasted for over three hours and resulted in agreements on enhancing trade and economic ties, increasing Belarusian exports and establishing industrial cooperation. The parties intend to intensify cooperation in nuclear energy, mechanical engineering and construction. The politicians signed a joint declaration emphasising a mutual desire to consolidate Belarus-Egypt relations. The meeting resulted in a total of ten agreements on cooperation in various spheres.

For Minsk, Cairo is not only the most important political and economic partner in North Africa, but also a reference point on the entire continent.

Alexander Lukashenko invited Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to pay a return visit to Belarus.

Today, the Belarusian President is scheduled to hold talks with the Speaker of Egypt’s House of Representatives before departing for an official visit to Sudan.
