President Alexander Lukashenko was updated yesterday on measures taken to minimise the consequences of cyclone Daniela, including on the progress of restoring electricity in a number of settlements. The President demanded that such situations should be eliminated. The natural phenomenon has become a test for the transport, energy and municipal services systems of the country. Those responsible for these areas must begin working on prevention, especially in the energy sector.

The Government has already prepared a draft decree providing for measures that would eliminate the falling of trees on power lines. However, the heavy snowfalls have benefited the country's agriculture, as the snow cover reliably protects crops.
