14 000 servicemen took part in the Victory Parade. Wheeled vehicles, infantry fighting vehicles, tanks, armored personnel participated in the Parade. About 20 samples of new military equipment were involved for the first time. Some of them haven't been demonstrated before.
The leaders walked through the Red Square after the main part of the celebration. The people warmly welcomed them.
An unchanging tradition is the laying of flowers at the tomb of the unknown soldier in Aleksandrovsky Garden. The ceremony was attended by all the distinguished guests of the victory parade. In memory of the fallen soldiers, a moment of silence was observed.
The Victory this year was postponed from May 9 because of the coronavirus pandemic. President Putin chose the date of June 24, since it was on this day in 1945 that the winners' historic parade was held. In Belarus, a military parade in honor of the Great Victory was held on May 9. About 3 thousand military personnel and over 150 pieces of equipment participated in it, 36 airplanes and helicopters flew over Minsk sky.
